Absentee Voting Opens for August 6 Primary
Absentee voting for the August 6, 2024 Primary Election began Tuesday, June 25. Residents can request an absentee ballot by mail by completing this form or in person at the County Clerk’s Office, located at 101 S. Crittenden St., Marshfield, in the historic courthouse. The County Clerk’s Office is open for absentee voting Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm. The office will be closed for the Independence Day holiday July 4-5. However, the office will be open on Saturday, August 3, from 8-noon.

Save Money with A Rebate for Septic Tank Pump-Out
Approximately 25% of Missouri homes rely on onsite wastewater treatment systems such as septic tanks. Routine 3–5-year septic pump-outs are imperative for home maintenance and septic tank longevity and health.
Sewage from improperly maintained septic systems creates a source of pollution that can contaminate groundwater as well as our local rivers and lakes. With a pump-out you can save money, reduce your family’s direct impact on our groundwater, and help maintain existing infrastructure.
The James River Basin Partnership (JRBP) has offered rebates for septic pump-outs through our “Fresh Flush” rebate program for several years. Once again this year, in conjunction with our community partners, City Utilities and Greene County, we are able to offer additional rebates up to $150 in certain areas of the James River watershed.
These rebates will help offset the cost of a septic tank pump-out with an approved pumper from a list provided with each application. To sign up for this rebate or inquire further, please contact Todd Wilkinson (417) 836-4847 or fill out the application form at www.jamesriverbasin.com/septic. To receive a rebate, homeowners must submit a rebate application prior to having their tanked pumped.
The James River Basin Partnership, formed in 1997, is an established Springfield, Missouri (501.c3) that works to educate the citizens of southwest Missouri and enhance our local watershed through various programs and education outreach.

Missouri’s Presidential Nomination Process – 2024
In 2024, Missouri is going to try something new. Instead of hosting a Presidential Preference Primary Election (as we have since the mid-1990s), the State has formally handed off responsibility to the state’s political party committees.
Pursuant to Section 115.776, the state political parties are to establish their own procedures for the selection of the convention delegates who ultimately decide upon the candidates for U.S. President.
Each will follow a separate process, on different dates. At this time, many of those details are still undetermined. However, this is the best information we have to date:
Republican Party: The Republican Central Committee in each County will be hosting a “caucus” at 10am on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Participants will be required to present a photo ID. For more information, see: https://missouri.gop/missouri-gop-2024-caucus/.
Democratic Party: The Missouri Democratic Party will host their own half-day primary election in each county from 8am until Noon on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Mail-in ballots may be submitted, but must be requested on or before March 12 and returned by 10am on March 23. For more information, see: https://www.missouridemocrats.org/delegate-selection
Libertarian Party: The Missouri Libertarian will host a statewide convention, to be held on February 24, 2024 in St. Louis. For more information, see: https://lpmo.org/2024-lpmo-state-convention/
Finally, more details about the process in general can be found on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website: https://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/candidates/contact-parties
Thank you.
